Driver side door locks itself when I get out of the car-
This started yesterday on my 1996 XJS Jaguar convertible . I parked, got out of car. When I came back to the car, the door was locked & would not open with the key.
The Car never had a Fob.
I had to open passenger side, and release the lock from the inside. It has always been hard to open, but now it just locks and will not open.
What advice do you have.. I love this car - have 154,000 miles on it.

I think you might try removing the door card and, sitting inside, see what the mechanism does when the door is being shut. One possibility is that the locking part of the system is adjusted too far towards its point of locking, and is being tripped by the vibration of the door shutting. Easing off the actuation rod from the inner door handle to the actual lock mechanism might cure it.

This happens in some cars when water seeps into the door, and the central locking mechanism
is not moving as it should. These are the long adjustable actuation rods along the door.
Offcourse if its water causing this, then replace those window seals
Take the door card off, spray with WD40 to get rid of water, then regrease and then
activate and release the mechanisms to get them moving. Leave the door cards off for
a week so it dries out properly.
