Hi
I have an '87 xj6 and the interior pillar light on the passenger side has gone out. its not the bulb. there is no power at the socket. Does anyone know where the wires go do they come from the drivers side over the roof? I'm trying to chase these but didnt see anything on the floor area.

No, the wires go down, not up.

As I recall, if you pull off the B-pillar trim you should be able to see the harness connector to the lamp. The wiring then goes down the pillar to a another connector under the carpet, in the general area of the B-pillar.
