Default Engine colors for Jaguars?

I have an 82 and really don't want to paint my engine black. It seems like I seen a couple pics of a green color on some older Jaguar engines. So is there an aerosol engine paint available that's the correct green? If this is the color of older jaguar engines. I'm going to be doing a V8 conversion and thought it would be a nice detail to paint the engine a Jaguar color instead of regular old black.

Not ringing any bells with me. Others will chime in. I'm 99% sure that black has been standard issue since at least the 50s. However, until the late 60s (as I recall) Jaguar used different colors on the cylinder head to signify the different versions. Green might've been used...not sure.

However, various other Brit cars most certainly have green engines. Various MGs, Austins, and the like

Cheers

yes, in the 4.2 engines the block is always black and the head unpainted. The 3.4 and 3.8 engines also black blocks and 3 colors for different heads: Duck's Egg Blue, Orange, and Gold. I have seen green blocks in Lycoming engines of the 1930s, Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg, and in Austin Healeys, but not in post war Jags. You can check Moss Motors site for the Austin Healey Green Metallic engine paint.

All Jaguar manuals have a sentence in the engine section on rebuilds. Paint engine block black. Black does remove the heat from the engine, used to be used in racing over the years until colors were used for showing the power plants off. The green was used on the 3.4 heads inner valley or blue for identification between size. Gold valleys were ported heads , E-types , etc. Majority of heads after the 70s were unpainted, as were the V-12 aluminum blocks.

Well, way back when after market engine paint was usually a light gray.
an industrial color. Roy and I used that for our A and T engines. Looked cool,as a lot of other other guy's stuff was just greasy whatever...

I did paint he "B" engine that we put in one beat up A roadster red.
Looked great, far better than the car, and ran like stink.

The Lt1 in my lump came n black, and it stayed that way. Looks decent as it I reasonably clean.

SBC orange is far over used. Lost it's attraction.

Way back, one guy "built" an ultralow 32. OK, even if it destroyed
a decent 32 cabrolet. White was his choice. Nice as long as it was clean.....

To contrast with a white engine bay, I'd choose a bright blue, red or even green.
