Engine fan stays on after ignition is turned off
Look for ideas on why engine fan will not turn off when car is turned off. Car is a 85 xjs with a 2001 LS1 engine conversion. I have disconnected the wire from a relay switch on passenger Side of car and it went off. Just started doing it today. Other then that it has never been an issue. Any ideas? Could this be a computer issue? Or more likely a switch or wiring issue?

No battery disconnect but had to disconnect the lead wire from fan
I did not disconnect battery but lead wire from fan assembly was disconnected and it stopped running. If I reconnect wire it starts again. I too thought it might run for a bit after I turned ignition off but it was running a couple hour after car was off. I went out again this morning and reconnected wire and it turned on again. Car was not turned on when I reconnected the wire

Additionally it has a corvette engine
To further confuse the situation the engine was converted to a ls1 vette engine. Would the fan assembly be changed also to match the engine?. Conversion was done 12 yrs ago. And not by me. It has been very hot here int the states this week. Dazed and confused by this.

possibly the diode between the air con switch and the fan stuck on , If I leave my air con turned(with the key off) on and bypass the diode the fan runs.
I only know this because recently I removed my complete air con system and tested every wire/connection because I had no idea how the system worked.
But on my car if that diode was giving power continuously the fan would run if the air con was switched on at the dash....just a thought!
Before that I didn't even know what a diode did.

Seems to have fixed itself
Had a friend stop over who is more mechanically incline then I am. Guess my kitty was just messing with me. I showed him what was happening and it did what it did last night and again this morning. We backed out of garage to get more light on it. Wire was disconnected. He check a few things, put a volt meter to determine what wires were going where. Unplugged another connection and put everything back together. It stopped running with ignition off. Grrrrrr. We restarted car and to make sure it came back on when necessary. It worked fine. Typical jag electrical quirks I guess. Think kitty was just pulling my leg. Thanks all for your input. Will need to keep and I on temp gauges. Maybe one is going bad.
