First take on my "new" SIII
Doug:
Just had to look. quick search found an article on Johnson controls. It mentioned that Excide went into bankruptcy citing a major reason as to having lost the Walmart account to archrival Johnson!!! I didn't go further to see if the emerged from the bankruptcy or were liquidated!!!

Nice car, Tony, great to read about the restoration process
Interesting that you got the windows speeded up by dry lubing thr channels, I seem to recall Kirby's XJS book talking about dried up grease in the window motors as the leading offender.
I like Aerospace 303 as protectant and restorer for vinyl and plastic, leaves a nice non glossy finish and darkens black better than "back to black" and similar products.

I will confess, I was skeptical that channel lube alone would do it, but it seemed the easiest place to start. Glad I did, since it saved me getting into the motors and/or switch gear!
Beautiful XJ6. I've read on a couple of websites that the paint match for Pepperpots is Autoglym alloy wheel silver spray paint:
Autoglym Alloy Wheel Silver Spray Paint: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
Autoglym Alloy Wheel Silver Spray Paint: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
Yesterday I bought the VHT brand wheel silver and tried it out on the spare wheel. Putting it up alongside an untreated wheel I have to say the colour match is almost perfect!
