Howdy,
When I open the front bonnet it is a bit wobbly on the drivers side, it has only recently occured. It feels like a securing nut/ bolt where it joins to the bonnet bracket has become loose. I assume I need to remove the front bumper to get to the bracket?
I have searched but cant find a decent diagram of how to remove the front bumper, or the bonnet set up on how it is attached to the car.
Do I remove the rubber stops on the bumper to remove (plus the side fender attachments) , or is there more to it.
PS when bonnet shut it it tight and secure
thanks
Clayton
My 1975 XJ6C's European bumper is attached at four points - two at the ends of the bumper, through the front fender to a bracket attached to the frame. There are thick rubber 1/2" washers protecting the fender inside and out. Then there are two 11/16" or so nuts near the little rubber bumperettes that attached the brackets on the bumper to the bracket on the frame. You may have to loosen the brackets for the bumperettes also. The bumper should then slide right off.
Then you'll have full access to the hood hinge which is a single bolt going through a bushing that wears and will create the situation you have.
