ALSO What is this?? And could this be causing the odd sound??? Does it need cleaning out or replacing ever??
That's the air bleed for the fuel lines....plus one of the nipples is a one-way check valve to help keep pressure in the fuel line. As far as I know it won't cause any odd noises

Not sure, I couldn't hear the noise in your video.
The pump should hum and the sound be consistent.
Sometimes they'll growl......not good. In my experience, a growling pump can soldier on for ages. Or not. There's no way of predicting. Since a dead pump will leave you stranded on the roadside it's on my "when in doubt, change it out" list (as opposed to my "Let's wait for further developments" list ).
The original Bosch pumps were incredibly robust and long-lived, IMO. But age eventually begins taking a toll.
Dirty fuel.....fine, silt-like rust, often.....will kill one quickly. Thus the rationale behind pre-filters.
I stuck I some pre filters and changed over the hoses from the fuel tanks.
I got a fuel filter and changed that over 3 days ago. I also changed the 5/16?? Hose leading from the pump to the little hollow metal rail leading to the main filter. Not sure what called???
But I still get a sound that's like "put put putty put" almost like the fuel is not regular.
the only hose I havent changed yet is the one from the t junction leading to the pump itself. The 1/2 one.
Could the little fuel gate thing be an issue?? In picture attached.
although my gut feeling is that it may be the last hose to the pump
So i received ONE of the prefilters today. No idea why they decided to send the in separate mail outs.
Anyhoo. I am guessing that the arrow should point to the fuel tank OUT line??
I've recently added these wix pre-pump fuel filters to my SIII after replacing all the fuel hoses in the trunk/boot. I came across this thread and photo and had a question. I assumed the arrow on these wix filters indicate the direction of the fuel flow and therefore should point away from the tanks and towards the crossover valve. However, no one chimed in on chrisleg's question. Am I correct? Thanks.
