Default Great DIY video on windscreen removal and install

I had read about the seal on the windscreen. Here is a great video from the "Living with a Classic" YouTube channel. He does it by himself with a little bit of help from his wife for fitting the glass back in. Definitely do-able. Here is the

Thank you.

Default refitting the stainless windscreen surround DYI video

Hi All, Does anyone have a link to to see the re fitting of the windscreen surround , the DYI video was a great incentive to do this job as it has always thought to be a frightening task but re fitting the stainless without damage is a worry a video to conclude would help.

I agree. The removal video was posted this week and he said if we want to see the trim installed to leave a comment (below the video).

Larry, the SIII is bonded in with a sealer rather than a gasket. It's still not difficult to perform. My daughter helped me do my front windscreen - at the end of the installation I had mastic all over me and she didn't have a speck on her...

Metalbasher, disappointed to learn that the video doesn't apply to series IIIs. Any chance you and your daughter can make a YouTube video to show us how it is done?

I just finished reinstalling my front windshield and agree with everything you said Ken. The process is not hard, but the adhesive is miraculous. If you get within 6" of it, it will jump onto your fingers (or so it seems). Acetone will clean the adhesive from any surface, but it will also take a layer or two off your paint job. Mask very closely around the body opening. My down-fall as a first timer at this was knowing how much adhesive to put in the channel. I felt that too little would leave voids which would recreate the rust problem, and too much (as I chose) created a mess when inserting the chrome and trim pieces. My back glass should go more smoothly, I hope.

I don't know about a DIY video from me on that due to the likelihood of a fair amount of sulphurous language ending up on it. I also went the Alyn Murray route and used black silicone in lieu of the plastic inserts around the chrome.

Need to get paint on Blue Six before I tackle the rear windscreen (which is not leaking right now).

Thank You All for your replies, In the future when I may need to remove front and rear screens I would like to have the knowledge as I have heard stories of disaster refitting the stainless trims, also now I am not sure if that video refers to series 111 models and speaking of S111 does the front screen have a similar seal to the rear, PD.

The pinch-weld seal on the front windshield is different from the rear glass. The inner and outer finishers that go on either side of the stainless trim is the same front and rear.
