Default Hard Press On Accelerator, Engine Goes Off

Hello,
I have also notice that while driving, whenever i hard press on the 85 Jag S3 accelerator then the engine goes off in the middle of the road unless i just put my foot in the paddle then the car advances the acceleration by itself.

What could be wrong and what should be done to fix this trouble?

Thanks

Mike

Could be anything from clogged fuel filter to a vacuum leak. With numerous things in between, at a minimum i would remove filter and shake it, see what comes out, and check all vac lines and elbows in intact tract..

As I read the post., Mike reports an engine flat spot on hard throttle But, is Ok if the throttle is applied slowly

1. fuel starvation!

2. Engine vacuum goes away, timing now off !

3. Bad electrical connection somewhere. resulting in weak ignition spark

I guess we are all understanding something diferent.

Sounds to me like a sticking accelerator cable.
