how to pull the top dash pad off

Default how to pull the top dash pad off

anyone know how to pull off the top dash pad off on a 74 XJ12L (Series II) need to fix it, and get wood front out to redo. so far have found 4 screws in front any others? do I have to pull the windshield?

NO, those 4 screws should be all to free it from the car.

The corners can stick at the "A" pillar trim, so a gentle, HAHA, punch will loosen it. Remove those demister vents also, so they dont get broken anymore than they probably are.

It slides out towards the cabin, NOT up and out, and it can be a juggle around the steering wheel, so extend that sucker as far out as the slides allow.

As it slides towards you, watch the in car sensor, and the wires for the map light.

nice thanks just pulled the glove box outside all the outer wood is gone inside looks like just off the showroom floor

This was written up for a Series 3, but the only difference is in the end caps...
It shows the process in detail...
