Our adventure with Jaguar cars continue.
After restoration of XJS 1977 (including rebuilt of engine in our shop without previous experience with Jaguar and lot of help from this forum)
we bought XJ6C 1975.
The car has 40000 miles, but is out of the road more than 20 years.
Any suggestion what to make before trying to start engine ?
New spark plugs, fluids, clean the tanks , maybe new fuel pumps ? (As I know they are submerged inside of the tanks)
Clean the carbs ? How to proceed ? Is it good idea to use old trick with soaking cylinders with turpentine oil and turn the engine by hand ?
I would use a plastic boat fuel tank complete with primer bulb, connect in the trunk to the main fuel line to the carbs to initially run the car. After 20yrs I would bet the tanks are too bad to simply clean. Replace all rubber fuel lines, keep an eye on the evap canister for flooding and raw fuel pouring out under the front right fender. These are things to help keep the car from catching on fire. Then there's sticking valves to be concerned about. That's a nice coupe, please be careful waking it up.
