key codes for 1981 Jag XJ6 series 111
Let's say I knew someone stupid enough to lose his/her ONLY set of keys for a 1981 Jaguar XJ6. What would be the best way of getting new keys cut?
I really pity this person.
I'm glad it's not me.

Vancouver777,
I just had all new keys made for my Series ll xj. My car has three keys; ignition, glove box & boot, doors & gas caps.
Ignition required the removal of the lock as posted last week. My lock had a paper sticker on the inside of the ignition lock with a key code. My locksmith tried the code and it did not work. He then made a key that did work which coded out to be different.
Glove box and boot; I just took him the lock from the glovebox. the key he made for it works the trunk. (thus he is making keys for the locks, not changing locks to fit keys. also blanks are still correct)
Door locks and gas cap. I just popped off the gas cap door by knocking out the roll pin and took it to him; got keys back.

Need a spare key for your ignition/door/trunk/glovebox/etc?
I have most blanks and can cut keys for the following types/series. These are new cut keys, not a duplicate of a worn key. I can also, generally, cut keys from a high-quality picture via email. Barring that, I would need to have the key in hand to measure the cut depths with a gauge to decode it, then cut a new key.
Small Keys:
FA codes 501-625
FP codes 626-750
FR codes 751-850
FS/FK codes 001-099, 876-955
FT codes 101-225
FNR codes 01-25
MRN codes 01-54
RM/RL codes 801-952
More
Large Keys:
AA1 codes 11225-55332
AA2 codes BL/GM 2001-3000
AA3 codes BL/RO & VL/VV 1001-2000
MG1 codes NH/LH 2001-3000
RV codes 7001-9000
WS/FR codes 0001-3040, 4001-6000
JC codes 1-854
D codes 01-64
FT (Ford Cortina 10 cut) codes 1001-2000
XL/XR codes 001-195
TC/AK codes 0001-1000
TS codes 300-369
SL codes 5001-6000
NJ codes 0001-1500

I have a small selection of original Union blanks (FR, NH, FA, etc), though most of the blanks I stock are aftermarket brands. These are bare brass, nickel plated brass, or steel. Brands vary.
Small keys are $8 for common head styles, $12-16 for special head styles
Large keys are $16 for all metal. Aftermarket plastic head are $18. I do have some NOS Neiman RV blanks, NOS plastic Leyland head keys, NOS Waso keys, and some aftermarket Leyland head keys. Email for more info, generally ~$25.
Small Union original keys are $25. Romac keys are $20.
Dont forget shipping cost ($5.50) for a tracked USPS first class padded envelope from 20112.
I can also re-key most lock barrels to fit specific keys, and have a selection of original ignition switch barrels with stamped faces if youre looking for something specific.
Shoot me a PM or email if interested.
