Where to obtain replacement XJ6 Keys?
Greetings and thanks in advance for any assistance. I recently bought a used 1983 XJ6 which only has one ignition key, and the other keys were not located by the original owner. I was draining/flushing the gas tanks when I discovered that the passenger side lid was locked, and I could not open to continue with the flushing process.
I need to order new keys and am lucky to have the Jaguar round key code plaques (one round, the other rectangular) with the key code numbers on them. I have done internet searches but have been unable to find someone able to make a new set of keys. Any suggestions so I can get the keys and unlock that gas tank lid?
(I have not tried a Jaguar dealer, as I am sure the price will be outrageously high).
Thanks.
Jose.....I guess you mean "Pete" who has that website. It seems that someone should be able to just cut and sell me a key based on the Key Code numbers that I have. No, did not send an email to Pete........Pabarlow......Excellent, hopefully this guy TripleC will be able to sell the keys already cut......Many thanks.....will give him a try.

PaBarlow.......I emailed Triple C, and she replied back saying she could make the keys, no problem......so, I just need to call them when they are open and place the order. Thanks for the tip.

PaBarlow......I just called Triple C (In Arizona), and the people are super friendly and will be making the keys and shipping them out in a couple days.....Super great price and service for sure. Thanks for giving me their name.
Great--if you have the key codes. I've got a 71 with nothing apart from one ignition key.
Given the choice between a locksmith and replacement tumblers ($86 from Terry's Jag for the side doors) it's probably cheaper to go the tumbler route.

Is it true that the key code is stenciled on the inside of the glovebox rear of wood trim, and the key guys have the appropriate codes to cut a key set? I've never been clear on this and am halfway through replacing all the locks on a door and trunk keyless s1 with the locks off a keyed parts car (one of which is pretty gummed up and is currently soaking to hopefully become operational again)...
I have my series 1 glovebox in pieces after refinishing, and there is a 5 digit number written in blue crayon on the back of the outer wooden piece, but I'm assuming that was meaningful only to the assemblers. No stenciled numbers anywhere.
