Talking Left gasoline TANK - Jaguar XJ6 4.2 3 Series 1980

Hello all,

I'm ready for a new step, and this time it's the left fuel tank.

I want to make a list of "supplies" to get the left tank working. I expect to buy a left tank without internal gasoline pump?

Without pump:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F132618399338

Or: immersed pump setup:
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F 172347665569

Questions:
1 - Do I need to have to the gasoline pump twice in the trunk? I only have one now. (looks dirty and old). Fuel lines I can arrange myself so that will be fine.

Is it true that I have these 3 valves (System, for the tank switch) on the bottom left of this photo? photo 1?

Photo 1: (top left, its a fact that they taped off the lines to the vaporator.

Photo 2: old fuel pump

Photo 3:
For my references: this is the petrol filter? Right?

Is there anything else I should think about? Electronics? To control the tank? A valve?

Like to hear your expertise.

Have a good week!

from mid-1979 on, the Series 3 only has 1 pump which you already have, and 1 fuel filter which you already have. The picture of the pump shows it is missing the round bracket, probably the reason someone used the vinyl ties. There is also a thick piece of foam between the bracket and the pump.

Why do you want a new gas tank? Remove it and take it to a radiator shop to see if they can fix it.

There is a valve in each wheel housing behind a squared bracket, and there is 1 more
valve to the left of the pump.

Is the pump making any whinning noise or does it work quietly? If it works quietly leave it alone.

Great reply, thank you so much.
The previous owner did remove the full tank because of an hole.
So actually there's nothing to fix haha!

Can you show me how it must look??

Allright, i'll look for the valves:

I will post pictures of the bracket and foam later. If the left tank is missing, you will need one without inmersed pump. You will need the Sender Float too, it mounts at the rear of each tank.

here's the fuel pump with bracket. The drawing above appears to me to be for a V12 engine, not the 4.2 engine.

Be sure to get new filler neck O rings, gaskets and fuel sender gaskets.

Fwiw I had the same issue in PO disconnected left tank and used a Inline fuel pump like 40$
now there is a on off on toggle in dash on my 75 series2 that runs that fuel pump as well as a on off on toggle to give fuel level.
What I am doing is just wiring the other on side of toggle to the other tank same with fuel level wires.
This will allow me to change left or right tank and show level in each.
I may need a Y valve to keep fuel from pulling from both tanks idk. Way less money but not factory
