Default Long Stud Placement with new style lifting plates

So... I'm ready to install the studs in the block ( yea!!). And I have the new style lifting plates. So it makes sense to me that the LONGstuds go in positions 9, and 4 & 10? Sorry for the upside-down picture.

Many thanks, Bill

Lifting plates on the XJ6 engine are set at 5 and 7--9 and 11. Both on the intake side of the engine. Hope this helps.

what are the new style lifting plates? From what I can see in the drawing those were the old style used in the 3.4 and 3.8 engines.

I see, my '84 has those. They are the Second style.

I don't know how the First style could hold the weight of the engine, they look so flimsy.

do you still have the old ones?

Jose - I never did have the old ones. I suspect that's why I had the head gasket blow. The PO never put them back on and I think the acorn nuts bottomed (topped?) out and didn't get the torque necessary back at cylinders #2 and #3. I made sure it didn't happen this time around.
