New Member-AC not working
Hello all,
I'm a new member here and also a new Jaguar owner.
Recently got my hands on a 1995 XJ6 base model.
Love the car, but being a few years old, has a few issues.
The AC doesn't blow cold, the AC light illuminates when pressed, the compressor kicks on and seems to run ok, not short cycling or anything.
But no hint of cold air in the least. I need to get a gauge set to verify there is a charge, but the previous owner said it was charged.
Also I believe if it wasn't the compressor wouldn't run due to the low pressure switch.
Anyway any ideas would be great.
Thanks

You are gonna have to play mechanic with me
First let it run for like 5 to 10 minutes with max ac then open the hood.
The low side port is attached to a "canister" looking part on a hose. It should be very cold. If its not very cold or slightly cold then you have a refrigerant leak. If the owner said he had it charged its because it was leaking...
Last step for now: Pray that the evaporator is not the source of your leak.
If it is very cold then you have another problem like a blend door or something else... But start there and let me know how it goes
Best of Luck!!!

ok, sorry for the delay got busy and hadn't had time to really look at things.
To be honest I know what you're talking about, I can readily identify those on my fords.
However on this jag the lines coming from the AC compressor go directly to the condenser and then to the firewall, the only thing in the lines are the high and low ports and low pressure cutout.
so I'm not sure what to really think??
