Default Phone Holder

Anyone have a good solution for a cellphone holder in our cars?

I'm finding it difficult to come up with something that looks good and puts the phone in a convenient location.

Well, our state is very fussy about cell use on the road, so my shirt pocket does the job!!! Big fines if "nailed".

But, were I to dream one up. I's start with the narrow ledge over the TC. Hook and loop tapes aka Velcro. Then a box to fit. Materials range from an old vinyl record to cardboard or even aluminum. Face tot he front.

Or a minimalistic fix. Same Velcro Tape on the phone back and the mate on the cubby lid!!

I went this route because I also use my smartphone as a GPS and it puts it under the windshield for better satellite reception. Works great!

Not bad. I suppose I could use the bracket from my almost defunct Tomtom GPS. but my new cell phone is dumb, like it's predecessor.

Kinda miss Samantha's cool voice.

I used a Profit mount and it worked really well. Looks almost "factory". Only downside is it sticks out to the right of the console into the passenger knee space so your passenger may bump it but it is solid so the passenger is the only one who will suffer.

Not a stupid question, there are people in the industry who's full time job is to thing about these things and improve usability for how we use our cars and adapting to new technology introduced.

I get it phone, wallet, keys and maybe fob are easier to deal with outside of pockets. I'm going to focus on phone and wallet as they may be used more fro GPS, paying at drive thru, etc. I typically keep keys and fob in pocket. For the phone and wallet (mine is a small rubber car holder with about 5 cards and ID in it. I usually wrap cash (if I have any) around in in a fold.

Now, there is a center console, but I can see out of sight, out of mind when leaving to go into a store. My phone usually is kept in cup holder as well as my very slim wallet/card pouch. A few colleagues have 3D printed cup holder/phone adapters to hold the phone at a more proper angle for Google Maps/Waze use. I can see a similar used for a wallet holder. At times I will place phone for map viewing, landscape orientation on the sliding ash tray cover. The little handle keeps it upright at an angle, and the silicone phone cover protects console and keeps from sliding. I find this location better for viewing maps and some car performance apps (Torque) to monitor/log vehicle systems.

I use proclip in my 97 kx8. There are a few choices, I got mine on the side of the console. Not blocking anything and easy in and out. They are custom fit to the car for with several possible locations.

Here's pictures of my phone solution. So I now find it serves three purposes in this position: It's my GPS, my Traffic Cam Video Recorder, and my Phone.

I use a pearl magnetic phone mount stuck to the dash. It works fantastic although I did need to use some adhesive prep to get the steel plate to stick to the back of my glass iPhone.

I put mine in the ashtray. If your phone is larger you could remove the insert. And it's fine when using the phone's GPS as long as you don't mute it since it's not convenient to see the screen. But it does keep the phone from frying around the car and it's easy to access.

Recently bought myself a good one on tophatter. If you are at a loss with a choice, contact tophatter customer service. They will tell you the best item for your car.

I have found these handy in a couple of my cars. They just hold onto a slat in the interior air vent, and the magnet on the front surface grabs a thin wafer of steel that you apply to your phone or its case. Many versions available, this one was on walmart website.

Okay. LnrB is right, sort of. With Carhartt B324 work pants, the phone is on the right leg, the spare magazine is on the left. Best not to confuse them.

On the other hand, I made an insert to replace the ash receptacle on my Series 3. It's a printed plastic bit. There is a post with pictures called, I think, "Okay, I like my XJ6" or something like that. I think the best would be something simple that uses a "fit all phone" mechanism that is already on the market and just provides a mount in the opening. I'll work on it as time permits....

I use this from BJs. It is attached to the windshield via a suction cup. I have been using it for the past 2 years without any problems. I occasionally remove it when cleaning the windshield.
Phone is attached via a magnetic strip and connected to the radio via Bluetooth. My radio has a built in microphone. I can also use a USB to phone charging cable to connect the phone to the radio.

attached to windshield

Ooo, such a thing would be Seriously frowned upon in California, and considering all the kooks now coming out of the woodwork, probably with good reason!
