Non technical question! I was positive that someone recently posted a photo of a XJ6/12 parked next to a Mini and now cannot find it! Anyone knows where it is now?
I'm sure I'm not the only who has noticed that driving older cars is complicated a bit by the tallness of newer cars. Especially so when the older car is low-slung like our Jags. It's like being alongside a wall. Your visibility is blocked.
A couple years ago I was lightly clipped by a lady in a SUV. I'm sure that my Series III was simply too far below her line of sight to be seen.
Good point Doug,
With all these Rams & Silverados around these days, getting any clear view of traffic is annoying.
The size of some of these trucks is ridiculous IMO.
I have a 75 BMW 2002 and even the "smallest" modern cars dwarf mine. I have a few pix of Silverado 2500's in a slot next to mine and often wonder if they just used my roof as a step down when getting out 😛
Love the red TR6, mine was a '69 (good year). I happened to get behind a nice yellow '69 in town this past weekend, maybe the second one I've seen here in six or eight years. I followed it until I was uncomfortable and didn't want to freak out the driver. I almost teared up, I miss those cars. I do still have a brg '74 but the motor is out and it got put on hold. Maybe one day...
For an even greater contrast... The Jag's last visit to Everton's Goodison Park stadium before the move to our wonderful new stadium on the River Mersey.
Someone accused me of photoshopping this image. Nope, those massive SUV's really do tower over us in our Jags, don't they?
I have always maintained that SUV was to be translated as "Stupid Ugly Vehicle" hope it helps. LOL! What they have morphed into in modern times is truly ridiculous.
I have not posted on the Series 3 forum for a while now. 1) because mine is running flawlessly as my daily driver. 2) I was occupied with my 88 XJS which I have completed and sold and 3) I have moved on to my VERY LAST PROJECT, a 2001 Jaguar XK8, but I have been following all the goings on on the forum.
Age and health has slowed me down considerably but I am still plodding along. I am only doing a couple hours of work per day.
So just another photo of a Jag next to a MINI. my cheap 2005 Mini Cooper S
