Default Prettying Up

As this winter I'm planning to pretty up the engine compartment, I thought it would be good to do a little touch up on other things.
The brake reservoir for example, works just fine, doesn't leak or anything, but it's so Grody!

I mean, who in their right mind would want to raise the hood expecting a shiny new engine and find THIS?!

So after supper this evening I changed it.

Much better.

That sort of thing is very satisfying ! My engine bay is long overdue for a prettying-up session

Did the reservoir take a turn in the dish washer after the dinner's dishes? Looks like new.

Is it new? Or did you pretty up the old? And if you prettied up the old, how did you do it? Looks great!

Thanks, Fellas,
The dishwasher is a good idea, and I have no moral objection to putting stuff like this in it (dishwasher soap will clean Anything!) but for one little thing; The CAP has all manner of little metal pieces-parts and quite a lot of corrosion as you can see.

The dishwasher was here when I moved in (2006) so I don't know how old it is (husband doesn't remember), but it's still working just fine and I do NOT want to compromise the seals with tiny shards of whatever might be dislodged by a good scrub.

And, husband basically built the counters around the dishwasher so it will be a Real Adventure (read: Challenge) to change it out when that time comes. I don't want to have to do that any sooner than Absolutely necessary.

A Squeaky Clean reservoir would look a bit odd with a dirty, filthy cap so I bought the pair New from Moss Motors.

I do not know your word grody! I guess it is an addition to good old anglo-saxon english as opposed to queen's (or should that be king's) english!

For those wondering what happens if I put the reservoir in the dishwasher:
Here it is Before: I'm sure it's OE with the car, January 1976.

And After:

Clean but still stained.

And why I didn't want to put the cap in:

This was After I cleaned it a bunch. Stuff is still falling out, some if it Very Sharp!
I think whatever is in there has disintegrated.

None of this could possibly be good, or even harmless on the inside of a dishwasher.

Also used in the sentence "grody to the max". At least that's how we say it around here.
