Rear screen removal and replacement
Hello friends of this wonderful forum. I am having some rust attended to around the rear screen. The screen is to removed but my bodywork man has asked me to get the neccessary finishers for re-fitting. I have managed to source part number BAC 2288-A, this is a rubber surround. Do I also need to get the chrome trims or can they be cleaned an re-used? Or is there a full kit available?
Any advce will be gratefully recieved.
regards, Danny.

Just had my windscreen replaced reusing the chrome trim and all the rubbers as they were in good condition (not perished, no splits etc). Replacement or reuse of any piece depends on condition, if they're good there's no need to waste money on new. I agree with the others though, slow and careful does it with the chrome as it's pretty fragile, but still workable. Rear screen is fitted the same way as the windscreen.
Cheers,

Many thanks Tony for that info. I have now bought the three rubber seals so the old screen will be cut out without any worries about damaging the rubber, and as they are bonded in, I think it's a good idea.
I am pleased that the stainless trims are re-useable however because new ones are now on the obsolete lists!
Kind regards, Danny.

Thank you Tony for your posting regarding your rear screen. As far as I am aware, the screens in the UK series 3 cars were all bonded in, either with the earlier electrical heat method or the later mastic stuff and they still rust under the rubber!
My car had sufficient corrosion in one area that resulted in a hole!
Kind regards, Danny.
