Hi: I just finished mounting new springs onto adjustable GAZ shocks and installing the 4 assemblies. Here's a few photos that might be helpful to members that might want to tackle this using whatever shocks one chooses.
Like any job, apply rust buster many times before and remember where the washers and spacers came from so assembly will be correct.
Also, you get a straight shot at the rear caliper bleeder valve when the inboard shock assembly is removed and the cross over exhaust pipe is gently raised an inch or so using a block of wood and a floor jack. It wasn't to bad a job. Hope this helps.
springs/shocks in. even painted the hubs to match the front calipers. also wire brushed the inner wheel well and fender lip, coated the fender lip with por15 then sprayed the entire wheel well with undercoating. at least it looks cleaner and maybe even ward off the evil rust monster:}
looks better through the 5 spoke wheels. it's hard to see but i went with the black bullet nosed lug nuts to the old girl a little more attitude.

Reason: more photos
the factory tire jack has a 22mm nut on one end so you can use the lugnut wrench to raise and lower the car. Right? Too slow and it leaves me exhausted.
what I need is a driver to connect a 22mm socket to it and raise the car really fast when needed.
I tried using my drill but it does not have the power.
What type of drill with battery has the power to do it? Do I need an impact drill ?
what type of drill do you have in the pictures above?
Yup, impact driver. I bought mine at Menards. It's middle of the road price wise but it had good specs. I am pleased with it. It should be able to drive the jack bolt quite easily. Harbor freight also carries a few impact drivers. You'll want the 1/2". The impacts provide much more torque than the typical drill. Good luck.
Yup, maybe not the safest if used incorrectly. I constantly rotated the wrench slowly compressing the spring and only compressed just enough to slide the collar. I experienced no issues but to each his own.

.
@retroren, could you share your thoughts on the GAZ shocks and the new rear springs you mounted so far? I was wondering which springs you used and how the ride height looked after installing them. I have a set of JLM11569* rear springs from SNG ready to go in, one of my rear springs is broken. I have read about ride height issues in general after swapping springs out.

sorry for the delay in response as i have been busy re-doing the interior. i forgot to measure the wheel well arch height before i installed the new shock/springs. i would estimate i picked up 1 to 1.5" without impacting the viewing stance. as far as the springs i went with eurospare via ebay. i am very pleased with the improvement in the ride characteristics.
