Default Rear sunroof drain tubes

I'm verifying all the water drains and have run into something on the rear sunroof drains that I have to ask about. Where do they end up? I can run my "snake" 49" into the tube from the sunroof end, but then the snake stops solid. Both sides go the identical distance. I thought they might "Y" into the drain tube from the rear package tray collector, but the snake didn't appear in the rear wheel well. The snake does go end to end between package tray tube and wheel well. Do the sunroof drains also empty into the package tray collector?

I'm going to post an update on my build progress in general over on Alaskan Xj6/LT1 and will post some pictures and more info on the front sunroof drains.

Thanks for any help,

Dave

The go thru the body and drain directly to the pavement. Somewhere in the rear wheel neighborhood but I'm having a foggy moment. Someone will come along with good info. But the drains don't go to the package tray plenum.

Cheers

Thanks Doug, in this case it's as good to know where they don't go as finding out where they do go.

The rear sunroof drain tubes exit into the grommets in the rear door opening - you may think this unbelievable but it is so. Open the rear doors. At the bottom of the body aperture you will see what looks like a rubber door buffer - that is a dual-duty item. It functions as a buffer, yes, but it is also the terminus of the sunroof drain for that side of the car -and there is an identical one on the other side.

Thank you sov211, I would have never found that--truly unbelievable. I will look tomorrow, but I have to ask now, does the water drain out or do I have to remove a plug occasionally?

Gregory,

thanks for the info on the sunroof drains. I was not aware of that location either. I confirmed the buffers/drains.

Yup, Dr. Gregory is correct. I had to look. Need to opent he door. Iopened the left rear door. At the bottom right, indeed, an openinmg like a tube witht he end fush with the body. Clean and no evidence of detritus.

Does it work? I dunno. but, n evidence of rust in the vicinity. Pristine trima nd paint.

What I hould do is apply watert to the rear of the sunroof ansee if water comes out through the openings. will ido thatr, no...
