I'm inclined to agree with you 01xjr.
I saw a picture of someone who had chopped their sedan entirely in half behind the front seats. It appeared the purpose was to shorten the back seat to make a coup from a sedan.
It did get me thinking about mine...
This Photo was taken at the British Car Day in Gin Gin, North East of Perth in Western Australia, in May 2016. It was the last event the XJC prototype has been to, I know this because its my car. Aswell as the matching sedan to the right of the photo. We planned to make the show in 2017 but the rain didnt stop all day. Hopefully we will be able to make the show this year. Ive attached some more photos, after I prepared the cars for last year.
Green one was a 350 chev, 6 speed manual. Now in the process of becoming a V12, 6 speed manual.
Just to add a bit more trivia to this story, Ive known the owner of the green xjc's father through the Jag Club for a number of years. He use to own an xjc that was sold new as a series 3, it was OEW with blue velour trim. The car was unsold stock and from memory wasnt sold until 1980, which the dealer had changed the bumpers, grill and rear lights with new series 3 items. That car has previously featured in the Australian Jaguar Magazine, Published by Les Hughes. Les has owned a number of significant Jaguars including a pre production prototype XJC V12 originallu built in Heather with matching Heather Trim. The last I knew of that car, It was in need of a full restoration and was sold. We purchased the S1 XJC prototype from Les circa 2004
Just wanted to introduce my self and say Hello.
Working on a project you guys might enjoy. picked up this rare 76, XJC-12 and doing a full restoration on it. (luckily I own a collision repair/restoration business). Needs a lot of work but I think it is going to be worth it. Already replaced the roof panel because of rott. Planning on doing a Series 1 front end conversion, and was able to pick up a series 1 sedan. Also planning on doing a 5 or 6 speed conversion. Pretty familiar with Jags, own a 69 XKE FHC, 90 XJS convertible, and a new F Pace (going back to Jag as a lemon, I guess some things never change). Jag Lover for life. Donor for the Front End conversion and other parts
Other than the two extra doors. a SWB S! XJ handles like a Coupe and has probably the same room inside? I love my S1 XJ, it runs perfectly and is 100% reliable and fixable anywhere due to all the GM parts now installed.
Excellent project! That's exactly what we want to do. But with the Series 1 dash conversion too. Start a thread for us, we'd love to see this progress.
Thank you. I will start a new thread. Is the dash conversion straight forward or the wiring harness has to be changed over? My car is fuel injected so I don't know if the cash is possible. The donor car has perfect dash.
