Default SIII Rat / resto mod update

Here's a quick update on my Series 111 project,
Pics of the front and rear 'bumper uprights' along with front lower grill mod.
The mesh is temporary (not happy with it).
The uprights are again, may be temporary. The custom CNC parts I had designed seemed over the top so these are modified chrome aftermarket 67 Mustang parts.
The center dash upgrade is still a work in progress mainly deciding on final switch type and placement.
I'm sure this own't be to every bodies taste and far from finished.

Since we're dealing with opinions and personal preferences here, the bumper treatment does absolutely Nothing for me.

However, it's Your car, and you can do whatever you want to do to it.

Ditto...LnrB... Not the mods I would make.. ..."eye of the beholder etc."

on that note...
The louvers on the "bonnet" of my Jag look good to me and are functional to help with dissipating "under the hood" V8 heat. Some people have asked about how to install louvers and some are just turned off by the mod.
Funny ..I have noticed the opinions are very different between "stock engine" car owners, and the V8 conversion car owners. Maybe the conversion car group are more tuned in to modifying/upgrading these cars to suit themselves and what they feel their car needs. Non Jaguar owners gravitate to the car when its parked and a lot of them comment on the "lines" of the car - so I guess they feel the louvers area a part of the design - if so, goal accomplished. When idling, you can feel the engine heat escaping through the louvers, so they function.

I feel the problem with removing the front bumpers is, the shock tubes have to stay, as the bonnet attaches to them. So you can never get the "clean front" look - Lights / grill / lower grill areas, and yes ,..where are the 7 inch headlights ? Number one body mod. Gets the original "as designed" look back.

If I wanted the "no Bumpers" look , I would use quarter bumpers - those that are on the corners of the car and curve around to the sides. At the moment there is no protection at all - sheet metal is all that is there. In a frontal accident the bonnet will snap off its front hinges and come crashing through the windscreen to decapitate you,, think about it...

Certainly agreed on the 7" headlights (you might notice one outer trim is already removed).
For sure all mods are in the eye of the beholder. I'd thought about the quarter bumpers and may yet go that way. As for crash worthiness I'm happy with it, the uprights are welded steel secured with a 1/2" bolt to the original bumper shocks.

I sure am a believer in "to each his own". Car folks have been deleting bumpers for decades. some add neat little bars. I've always questioned, "why?" Protection of anything only from the slightest tap.

On stately sedans, as ours, they just don't look "right". That opinion thing again. perhaps along with major modifications, they might fit in.

Sporty Camaro's of the 70's featured bumperettes. Flanking a Ferrari like egg crate grill, they did look good.

My Jeep has an interesting design. A plastic skirt ala valence along it's lower front. Useless in impact protection. But, l behind it nicely attached to the front structure is a hefty bumper bar. The plastic apparently sacrificial.

A few years ago, my neighbor across the road had a similar Jeep. It apparently got in to a whack. Sans the skirt, it looked very functional, as a good Jeep should? .

Default At hah!

I m a huge support of making a car all yours. I saw this today and thought it might work for your purpose.Bull gaurd. It's take some customizing but might lead into the grill in a nice way. And if braced right would protect the sheet metal.

Its a work in progress for sure. The bumper treatment is inspired by Rover P5b i use to see around where I grew up. I use to just think was cool. very personal taste.
It offers the protection I want.

Yeah Partly 7"
The decision is 7" Halogen outers with a LED amber and white halo as side and turn signal and Halogen inners with white LED halo.
Pics will follow parts should show up over the next week.

The outer 7" LED halo is white or amber, so the amber will replace the turn signal and the white the wide light. The inner 5" are white so I will be running extra wires for side light.

The screen is modified from a HIZPO 10.1" Single 1DIN (Android 7.1 ) this one is similar;

once I have it all together I expect I'll add a amp but going to go in steps.
