Thought this section would enjoy these pics!
Hey everyone, haven't been on Jag Forums in a while, but I got the opportunity to detail a beautiful and all original 1987 XJ6 Vanden Plas today with 38,000 original miles! I definitely thought this Jag section would appreciate the pics below and know that this prime example is still rolling around Phoenix. The owner is putting a lot of work into her bringing it completely up to par. Watch for it possibly on craigslist or eBay my mechanic told me he may be selling it.
I am working with a Euro shop and do many of my mechanic's customer vehicles while they're in. Needless to say I did a full detail (exterior only) which was more or less a mini-restoration, returning this classic to her glory days. All chrome was also cleaned/polished. I couldn't resist parking her next to my '96 XJR6 for some extra shots after the detail was complete. It was Old School vs "sorta New School."
Enjoy!
For all you detailing guys (and gals) these are the steps and products I used on this classic Jaguar:
**Full exterior detail included my higher end vehicle products:
1) Hand Wash
2) Ultra Poly Clay Bar Paint Prep
3) Meguair's Speed Glaze using DA Polisher (revealed nice black paint under oxidation & 24 years of exposure to the elements)
4) Wolfgang Polish/Swirl Remover 3.0 using DA Polisher (swirl remover & reconditions oils in the paint resulting in a liquid "glass finish")
5) Fresh coat of Pinnacle Wax
6) (step back and be awed)
