Transmission fluid problem
That's exactly right !

I had a 1995 XJ 6 that use unreliable and I hated it. Shorter wheel base, different grade of leather, etc. the 97 has been a good car.

Mind you that is a statistical sample of one dude at the parts counter.
We never sold transmission flushes as a cure for any problem.....nor should anyone else, IMHO.....as problem solving really isn't the intent of a fluid flush. More of a treatment than a cure, if you get what I mean. However, we did sometimes get remarks that the shifting felt better. Hard to judge the objectivity of such feedback, though.
The idea of a flush is simply that it gets out ALL the old fluid.....versus the old school drop-the-pan routine which leave 6-8 quarts of old fluid in the trans.

The trans oils was black, so we flushed, refreshed and then serviced every 50k kms. Just past 400k kms without an issue.
This particular scenario fits what people have been talking about , an approach better suited to new transmissions, but it takes an odd conjunction of events to ever want to do it on a young trans.
Hey there forum members.
I was told that since my transmission is leaking at the front plug (I guess where some wires come out) they say it's much more expensive to repair as opposed to simply doing a service and dropping the pan.
1) Is this true?
2) Is there much more work to do with the transmission when the plug leaks?
Also, since I was losing transmission fluid and the trans is not shifting smoothly, I'm wondering what's the best approach to take.
3) Should I do a service and retain as much of the old fluid (this is what the Jaguar dealer says I should do)?
4) Should I replace what comes out?
Or
5) Should I replace all the fluid with the flush finally?
