Can someone tell me if those "Wooden" looking door inserts on a Series 3 are actually wood? Can they be reclaimed or are they just plastic.

 

As far as I know, they're wood. Very late in the Series 3 production there was a drive to make it more traditional based on USA dealers demanding that the cars needed to be more "Jaguar" after the British Leyland era.

At the time of this being done, Jaguar had their own wood-veneering shop and I have seen the craftsmen in there doing their stuff.

Very thin veneer over wood.. Do not sand. Use steel wool and mineral spirits to prep.
To remove the clear coat,.. use a clothes iron set at 75 % heat and lay it against the clear coat on the wood. The clear will turn cloudy and lift .. remove it carefully

The same "clothes iron " method works great on dash board refurb projects

Be especially careful with the VDP versions as the box wood inlays are really thin.

 

I have an extra set of VDP inserts if someone needs a set.

They need to be clear coated.

Good (not excellent) condition but price is right ...cost of postage
