Every evening I go around and check the doors are locked, etc and part of that is to make sure the garage door is down and the lights are off. Tonight I went out there and heard this weird noise. It sounded a by like a French police siren with a thump been each crescendo. Not loud and it took me a while to find it. The passenger side door mirror on my 1979 was going crazy. It was alternating from tipping up to tipping down in an endless loop. Like a little toy robot stuck in the corner. I went around and a jiggle on the control button on the drivers door and it stopped. Glad I caught it before it ran down the battery. Tomorrow I’m going to look up which fuse is associated with the door mirrors and pull it. Just wanted to pass this along in case your battery suddenly goes flat.

I get it If only my noise was so easy t detect and fix.

Not my jaguar, but my jeep grand cherokee.

Iwear hearing aids. when I start the jeep i get a whistle in my ear. Now, my aids are sphstcated i have no earing in my rght earr but, the aid in that ear has a microphone and a transmitter. it sends the sounds to the eeft aid, Faux stereo. Is that mic gettig a sifnal from some eectronic part of the Jeep

Thanks for the responses. The weird thing was the mirrors were fine and no noise and then sitting in an empty garage they spontaneously on their own started going crazy. Carl, I sent you a PM about the hearing aids picking up electronic noise.

I finally got around to investigating my possessed door mirror. Turns out the joystick switch has perished, plastic housing cracked and falling apart. Its part number DAC2649. By chance does anyone have one sitting around? They don’t seem to be available new and the used ones on the web are quite pricy. Thanks for your help.

the lowest price I found for ONE JOYSTICK is David but he doesn't have any. Nobody else has them either. Nothing on eBay.
