Default What is this?

What is this tube with the holes in it for? It's located at the end of the intake manifold in my Series 3 XJ6 fuel injected model. It's hollow but had the end plugged up with a large bolt.

I can't find it a where in parts manuals or service manuals. Apologies if this has already been asked - I've tried looking around
but have no idea what it's called or what I'm looking for.

Guessing…is it a vacuum system pickup location? Vacuum lines would attach where the bolt is.

Could it be a injection port for nitrous oxide or maybe for running on an alternative fuel like propane or natural gas ? I've never worked on those systems, so just wild guessing on my part !

Cheers,
Brian

It's not a factory part, so something like nitrous is a good guess.

Thanks Brian - I think natural gas makes sense. It's a pretty common alternate fuel here in Aus.

definitely a modified Otter Switch as used in carburetted Jaguar engines prior to fuel injection.
The otter switch would turn On the auxiliary starting carb (choke).
Looks like the Otter switch in the picture was modified into a metering device ?
