XJ6 1971 fuel pump/s and lines questions
Hi everyone!
Got the new tank put in and all is good with that.
The questions…..
With carbs, and one non original fuel pump, do I need to use a second pump and all the plumbing, or….. can I put the “Y” in front of the single pump and just have the tanks connected together? There are no return lines or check valves.

That will work OK however if you park on a transverse slope ie sloping to one side, fuel will run from the higher tank to the lower tank. (Not a great problem if the tanks are only half full.)
By having two fuel pumps before the Y they each act as non return valves not allowing fuel to flow from one tank to the other

Except….. when switching tanks, the new fuel tank/sending unit is not showing full, it drops to zero.
