Default XJ6 boot not opening

Hi, I am new to forum. I have just bought a XJ6 of year 1987. The previous owner(a retired man) took the car apart and got it painted from inside and outer body. Then he started mounting the car, just after mounting front left window mechanism and the seats stopped working on it for health reasons and then passed away. I bought this car from his wife. The parts of the cars are in boxes and in the boot as well. I am unable to open the boot. The key goes in the lock turns and the opening lever is stuck. I'm not sure if the key is right. Can some one suggest how van I open the boot to get access to the parts locked in.

Someone else had trouble getting into their boot recently, you might find some help in this thread:

I think there is usually a grommeted hole behind the number plate that gives access to the lock lever. If there isn't, somewhere there are instructions on where to drill this hole.

Are you new to this car model? When I got mine I thought I had a boot issue, but I really just had confusion about keys (one of which worked in doors, but not in the boot) and with the weird way the lock works physically, just a stiff quarter turn to the left with no real feedback and then push the lever under the hand grip up and open.

Yes I am new to Jaguars, I bought it with a new paint but totally taken apart for the paint and jammed boot, the seller told me that the parts were in the boot and only one head light was missing. When the boot opened I made a break down of the parts not only a headlight is missing but several other parts are missing ( may be still there another box in his garage) The seller is not responding to my phone any more. Tonight I will give him a surprise visit. If he has nothing left the I will have to find the missing parts from the Jaguar junk yard.

David Boger at everydayxj can provide enough parts to build another car or more.

And detailed knowledge as he has taken more than a few apart down to almost molecular level!!

Good guy and posts here.

Thanks, but I live in Belgium. I have found a secondhand car parts seller for English cars, near Brussels. I will contact him tomorrow.

Appleeater I live in Australia a long way from David Boger but for certain parts it's cheaper with post to buy from David......FYI just keep him in mind.
