Pud:

I am intrigued. Not that I am about to embark on such an ambitious project. I'm too far down the trail ! I'll see four score and eight next week!!

1. At the onset of non leaded fuels, cheaters were sold and DIY'd. Allowed fueling from big nozzles and leaded fuel into cars or small trucks with small no lead tank fillers.

Plumbing fittings usually used. But, ineffective now, with the sealed nozzles. Although, I do manage to pump fuel from them in to cans for my yard machines.

2. Way back when mechanical fuel pumps were the usual or even earlier
when vacumn tanks sucked in fuel, old critters were hard to start. Voila,
add an electric at the tank. Boost the fuel forward, then crank. Much easier and more reliable.

3. My son has a great 94 Dodge 3/4 4x4. Cummins powered. Many, many miles Some pulling a big trailer, moving heavy toys around !! We were speaking of fuel delivery. I think he said the design included a booster, but that it could manage with it not working.

More pics. Engine is nearly done.. just need front main seal and timing cover gasket and injector return line reinstalled...

ran into a small problem.. tried to test fit it and my engine crane legs are too tall to get under the xjs.. gonna prop it up on wood to clear the underbody but it's a pain in the *** for sure

Gonna be a mother with that starter. Did Jaguar offset the engine to the passenger side any? Ford did in the trucks due to the steering stuff and it made a world of difference on the fit.

Also, from bad experience I'd suggest a couple 16' 2 x 6's under the tires to lift the car up and just lift the engine (don't try to move it up in the air). That sucker is heavy and you may have geometry problems getting it over the radiator support and aiming down the trans tunnel in the back. I set mine with a tow truck and even that was challenging.

Now is also the time to sort out the trans kick down setup while you can still see it.

SADLY. I'm unable to fit it nice enough to get pictures.. im going to have to really beat up this XJS to get the adapter and starter to fit. It's gonna be a mother fudger but its all worth it!

Anyone gonna wanna cop some interior dash switches/wiring/heater/AC components before i scrap them?

That's a bummer. I was thinking that was even the Dodge starter but looking back at my swap pics I'm not sure. Some of the SAE ones you can rotate in the housing but not the Dodge gear drive one. Maybe Google some A518 pics on the '93 and earlier ones. They don't have the lock up converter so the front end of the bell is thinner and I think they used a different style start.

A518 plate on the engine, 47RH off to the side. Note that the Dodge starter is clocked differently than the one you have. Is yours from a 47rh setup? Asking because there was a reason I needed to run the 47rh start and couldn't use the A518 one that came with my combo. It's been six years since I did it so I forget why.

Another comparison pic. A518 on the left, 47rh on the right.

i have a 47rh for sure with the fat adapter and un-clockable starter.

i've begun ripping out the interior. Gonna remove everything and only run gauges and what i need to stay legal

Yeah, probably best to get the combustibles out of the way for when you need to put the firewall back together. Get'n serious.

So i have more clearance issues than i expected after test fitting. The 6th cylinder does not want to go in without touching the firewall.

Though the adapter and starter situation has been solved!

Yes, now you start pushing out the front. Rebuilt radiator support, custom radiator and some flavor of fan. Like I said up thread, these engine are thermally efficient so you won't need a gargantuan radiator. I'm using a three core out of a '93 Ford F-150. I did need to weld on a smaller lower coolant hose stub.
