Default 1987 XJ-CS How can I get keys made?

I have a great find from a friend. I had bought a Lexus SUV from this friend that had been sitting for 4 years. I recently discovered a low mile 1987 XJ-CS in one of her barns. I know there will be a bit of work to be done, but she does not have the keys. Where do I start? I called a local Jaguar dealer and the individuals I spoke on the phone with seemed to react as if this was the first time they had ever heard of such a thing. I am going to go into another dealership in person when I get a chance and chat with the guys in the shop.

Any insight would be appreciated.

If your friend can prove ownership, I think, repeat think, that you can give the VIN number to Jaguar Heritage and they will identify the key codes. With these you can order new keys from specialist key makers.

A Jaguar dealer should be able to do it, with proof of ownership. I had a spare made for my '94 at the dealership in Chattanooga.

But another idea: how about call Coventry West in Lithonia? I bet they would point you in the right direction if they can't do it themselves.

If I have the keys, can a locksmith make copies? I notice that blanks are available on Ebay, so maybe if I had blanks available?

This is for my 86 XJSC (which has normal keys, not the Ford ones).

The first thing I would do is to get this XJ-SC home before someone else steals it. :-) With normal keys and blanks in hand any better hardware store can make copies. (Can someone kick me in the rear for selling my XJ-SC?)

My other problem is that the keys for the rear lockers are lost. Fortunately, they are not locked!

Any decent locksmith should be able to do this job. I had no keys with mine when I got it. I removed the ignition and glovebox cylinders, gave my dad a set of a blanks, and he cut them by hand with a file.
