Default 1990 Koenig XJS for Sale?

No affiliation with seller, just came across it and thought people here would be interested?

Just my opinion: An absolutely hideous monstrosity. Poor Malcolm Sayer and William Lyons must be turning in their graves.

Setting aside its odd appearance, there's something in the engine photo that doesn't make sense for a 1990. It has two red ignition coils mounted by the ABS unit. I wonder what that is about.

Return the bodywork to factory and you have a nice car. I'm guessing this is cosmetic only, no performance enhancements - no mention of any in the ad.

Not my cup of tea, nothing elegant about this, best I can say it seems like it's in good condition.

I noticed that, and one of the coils has an A on it, so I expect one per bank, maybe? Also I could not see either a Lucas or the normal Marelli stuff (not in the latter case that I know much about it), so maybe it has an aftermarket system.
The book You and your XJS by Nigel Thorley mentions keonig (?sp) but seems to imply it was body mods only not engine mods. A search revealed this:
https://www.mecum.com/lots/AN1112-14...enig-specials/
Seems that only the normal air filter box mods were made, no actual engine internal mods.

I see this car as a backwards peek into the 1980s-early 1990s. I call it the "Miami Vice" look . Think Ferrari Testa Rossa and "AMG" Mercedes. Body cladding, wide wheels, body colored bumpers/fascias. It's all there ! I can almost see a Colombian drug lord jumping in and roaring off...with Sonny Crockett in hot pursuit.

Great days but it all seems a bit silly now, eh ?

Some cars are better suited to this sort of things than others....and even then relies on execution not being too far over the top.

Cheers

It's like finding a "Disco Era" suit in the back of your closet, complete with a pair of matching platform shoes! interesting as an artifact, but not something you'd like to wear out of the house. Provided that you could still fit in it!

How could you not love these vehicles??

you people have no taste
