1992 XJS Convertible Body Q?
Ahoy!
I've not found the procedure in the Service Manual so, time to source the wisdom of the Forum.
Re: 1992 XJS Convertible (Facelift)
How is the "A" pillar finisher (trim) removed ? And, I need to know where to start: how to remove everything before I even get to the finisher.
I am a new member. This is my first post so, please accept my apology in advance if I unintentionally violate any protocols. And, I need to lear how to navigate the Forum.

Welcome aboard
My memory is a bit foggy....others will chime in....but I think the pillar finishers are simply levered off. One of those things that makes you a little nervous.

Thanks, Everyone
How is the lower windshield "chrome" trim removed ? The upper has several screws hidden beneath the rubber but, I'm not sure about the lower.
Re: Gingerly prying off the "A" pillar finisher: Any tips, tricks, recommended tools? Certainly with caution and a steady hand.

Once the A pillar trim is off, it reveals a screw each end of the under screen trim. In addition you must remove the windscreen wiper grille and mechanism (it comes out as one assembly) and two more screws are then revealed in the centre

Silly me, I was thinking of the *interior* trim on the A-pillar.
Anyhow....
When working with any of the 'finishers' be gentle. They bend/distort quite easily and, if that happens, you'll have hell to pay getting them to fit and look right.

RAC,
I'll try and dig out my pics from a few years ago, but I thought I remembered a rivet on the side chrome on a convertible? I might be wrong.
As Doug has mentioned, go very easy, it's incredibly easy to slightly distort them and a pig to then get them lined correctly on refitting. Also.be very careful once you've got the side chrome off. As you probably know, XJS are notorious for getting rot in the windscreen lower flange and spreading into the scuttle. It's very likely that the screw fixing point for the lower chrome is corroded and in a corroded area. So, go easy.
Good luck
Paul
