Default 1993 XJS Convertible

I have recently acquired an 1993 6cyl XJS

it had sat for a long time before I got it . There was an issue with the beeping of the alarm but thanks to these forums I have that sorted out.. issue I am having now is that the headlights stay on with the key on or off in or out. If you turn the headlights on then off they do shut off. Then in about a second they turn back on Where should I hunt for this gremlin. I have recently replaced the battery and the alarm
does with when I program it after reconnecting the battery. Right now I have to leave the battery disconnected

thank you

I would start with the relay, then the light switch.

I have a 1993 4.0l convertible that I do all my own work on. I have had Betty for about 2 1/2 yrs. I will endeavor to answer any questions I can concerning your XJS. While I haven't had but a couple of electrical problems I do agree that checking the relay, which may be stuck and then the switch is the best route to go at this time. You will find this forum as well as jag-lovers.com to be invaluable resources. I would recommend getting a copy of the shop manual as well as the parts book, they are available for very little on line. I think I paid US $10.00 for the disc that I uploaded to my computer. Also a very necessary thing to have is Kirby's Book, which is a free download online.these items and the people on here will be your greatest asset in fighting the GREMLINS that you will come to see as a charming part of XJS ownership. Don't let anything about this vehicle itimidate you, for the most part its actually not that bad. You can look up 1993 XJS new to me as well as an update I posted concerning the things I have done to my car. Good Luck and welcome to the world of the XJS.
