Default Stolen 1996 Jaguar XJS In BRG

I has my car stolen a few days ago, out of my driveway. Left the spare (valet) keys in my wife’s car, and my wife doesn’t believe in locking her car door apparently. Some people came through, as they tend to do every few months, and take all cash in unlocked cars. They never “break into the car” nor do they ever seem interested in anything other than change. No laptops, phones or sunglasses have been previously taken.

Anyways, I live in the DC area. If anyone happens to see a green XJS with VA Tags 7480PT with no badging on the trunk (just had it repainted) and the 95 five spoke wheels, please call it in. Last numbers on the VIN 224949

Im sure it was taken somewhere and parked and now I’m just waiting for someone to report it, or to get it ticketed....

So sorry to hear this. I'm on the other side of the country so chances are I won't be running into it, but I hope it is returned soon and in one piece.

What an odd choice of cars to steal. I know you chase down and resolve even the most minute fault, so it must be one of the best XJSs out there, but still hardly a good candidate chop shop theft. That implies opportunistic joy riders. I hope they just bail on it instead of dropping it in the Anacostia.

Good luck

-John

I came across that one too!

Wrong wheels, I have the 1995 five spoke wheels. I also have headlamp washers as well as the quad headlights.

Thanks for helping me look!

Car found.

It is totaled. Someone crashed it into a house (!!!) the night it was stolen. It's been sitting in a DC tow lot since the night it was stolen. Apparently DC does not do a good job of following up on stuff like this.

It's gonna run me almost $1,000 just to get the totaled car back so I can harvest it for parts...

Please get screenshots of similar cars for sale in the area and be prepared to argue for top dollar, they say its a $750 dollar car here but no XJS sells for less than 10k unless its badly neglected. A 1996 is worth alot.

Many sympathies; but it sounds like you are up for another one!
I find it really heartbreaking to contemplate any enthusiast's car being totalled by a thief; all those years of small, and not so small, improvements and reliability fixes - just gone. Good luck in finding a replacement, and I hope there is some decent insurance money on the old one to fund it.
