Default 86 XJ-SC manual transmission with sloppy shifter

All, does anyone know what the correct part # is for an XJSC I6 with a manual gearbox shifter bushing? I believe that it may be a Getrag 265 gearbox and if so, is there a BMW substitute?

Hi,

This has come up a couple of times on the forum before.

If it is the same issue the thread below, and especially my response to it, may help.

https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=91375

I still haven't got round to doing the job yet!

Good luck.

I assume you mean the white bushing that holds the gear selector? If so it is EAC9164. I myself have been looking for this bushing, can't seem to find it anywhere. Tips?

It's been NLA from Jaguar for some time (and therefore NLA from all the usual aftermarket suppliers who just buy it in from Jaguar).

However BritCarParts seems to have a replacement so I guess some overseas suppliers might also be making their own part. If not, just get it posted over to you:

EAC9164 | BEARING-SPHE | Jaguar | | Britcar (UK) Ltd (brit-car.co.uk)

Good luck

Paul

Thank you for that. Earlier today I ordered it. Unfortunately, they are out too

"Unfortunately, EAC9164 is now fully obsolete from Jaguar. Now this has been brought to our attention, we will be taking the part of our website.

I have done a full European dealer search and there are no suppliers currently showing one of these in stock."

Jaguar have a programme of trying to get more obsolete parts back into production. But they do it based on known demand for the items. So contact them per website below to make them aware that you're interested in the part. (And any other specific NLA parts).

My car was sold a while ago but you might want to look at BMW spares. The transmission (Getrag 265) was commonly used in several BMW's from the same era.

I looked into it and bought the equivalent BMW part. The BMW part number for the bushing is 25111469397 and it is identical to the one in the Jag, And surprisingly very cheap even from the BMW dealer. Knowing this, now you can even experiment with short shifters meant for the same era BMW's
