Default '88 V12 non runner - Resolved

Hello,

I need advice on my '88 XJS V12
Everything was fine, car was running great till yesterday. I started the engine and pulled car from the garage in the morning. It was running for couple minutes without any issues.
Few hours later I tried to start the engine and it ran for 2-3 seconds and stalled. For me It sounded like flooding so I tried to start it again and again. With full throttle it almost started, but no luck.
I was sure it was flooded so I disconnected all injectors (unplugged the harness on the right side of engine bay) After that I was able to start the engine for couple of seconds. After connecting the injectors harness engine immediately stalled. I tried it several times with no luck Any suggestions guys ?

Regards
Paul

P.S.
I recently installed new plugs, wires, cap+rotor, air cleaners, o2 sensors etc

A pinched/shorting injector harness can cause injectors to stay "on" and cause heavy over-fueling.

Excessive fuel pressure can do the same. Do you have a pressure gauge?

Cheers

I had the same symptoms when my shilded wire from the ignition module broke. Check your wires!

Thanks for your suggestions !
I will try to check the pressure and the wiring today.

There is one more thing - while cranking I can hear the injectors. I am not sure if all of them works but they still clicks.

@JameyXJ6, which module you talking about ? I mean where it is located ?

Thanks again
Paul

I had the same thing and I found a dirty connection on the positive battery
lead lucar terminal as in picture I cleaned it squashed it up a bit to make I tighter fit and never had any more probs from that.

Thanks for the picture, I checked this as ECU connector, both looks OK.

Just for giggles.....

Check the connector and wiring at the coolant temp sensor.

If the circuit is open a running engine will flat-out die, and an a non-running engine will never start.

Over the years I've heard that an open CTS circuit will either cause massive over-fueling OR totally shuts off the injectors. Opinions differ and I've never heard a conclusive answer.

Anyhow, it's really to check, so....

Cheers
