Lightbulb 88 XJs H&E V12 Help

Hey all, knew this would be fun, but here is another one for ya, I have just replaced the alternator belt, phew... ran great for a bit, and charge and everything was running right. Today I got in and turned the key and all I get is the click. Any hints where to start would be fantastic.

Tech: I know there is plenty of juice in the battery, checked at auto store. When turn the key the fan starts, and there is the clicking of what seems like a switch or servo of some type. But not the click of the starter, trying to start.

If anyone knows where I should start looking it would be great.

Thanks all.

Starter relay grounds through neutral safety switch at base of shifter. Try starting in neutral, and then while moving the shifter around a bit (foot on brake, please).

White/ red wire (feed to solenoid from starter relay) has a spade connector adjacent to the transmission dipstick. Test for power when cranking there. Sometimes that connection is the fault. If you have no power, you can always start the car by turning the ignition on and jumping a power feed to the white/ red wire, if the solenoid and starter are working (and you have voltage) the engine will crank and start.

Which brings us back to the starter relay, larger steel rectangular relay in right rear corner of engine bay beneath a black plastic cover. Try tapping it. If that doesn't get you lit, pull out a wiring digram and consult with your engineering team on how to test the relay for requisite feeds and grounds.

Sometimes the hardest fix is the easiest.
If you seem to have power to most items, but just a click when attempting to start, check the connections at the battery. You may have disconnected battery when installing the belt (seeing as you were working around the alt).
I was having a similar issue and after going over a hundred different things it could be, a friend walked over, twisted the negative terminal (which apparently was just loose enough to lose the good connection needed to start her) and viola, fired right up.

Talk soon,
