'89 XJS a Good Buy??
Hello All!
I am new to the forum and am here on a mission for some information and input: I am currently not a Jag owner but I am looking at an '89 XJS coupe with a little over 20,000 miles and in absolutely immaculate condition. My question to the masses of the internet is, for a little over $10k, is it a good buy? Also, what will I be looking at as far as repair expenses... My dad always told me cars like Jags and Mercs all had super high repair costs, but I'm not so convinced. And and all advice and/or input would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks!!

At the top of the XJS section you'll find a FAQ/sticky thread with an XJS buyers guide that might answer some questions.
Immaculate cosmetic condition is a real "plus" as paint, leather, chrome etc are ungodly expensive to have redone
Low miles doesn't guarantee perfect mechanical condition, especially if the car sat unused for long periods of time.
If it was used somewhat regularly.....a few times a year, let's say....you should be OK. Assuming routine fluid changes and such, of course.
I suggest reading the buyer's guide and coming back with more specific questions.
XJSs are fantastic cars but they are quirky and need attnention. Even the best ones are not "drive it and forget it" cars. With care, though, you'll have a reliable Jag.
Repairs ARE expensive unless you're a DIY mechanic.
Cheers
