Unscrew the wing mirror on the door. This will/might just allow you to get a sideways (front towards back/back towards front) pull with some long nosed pliers on the door actuating rods.

Have you got windscreen cover on your insurance?
If you do have to break a window don't do one of the door ones because you'll have to strip the door down to remove all the broken glass otherwise it will bugger up the door and window mechanism.
Have you tried spraying the handles and locks with WD40 or similar? let them soak overnight and try again in the morning.

Thanks for the advice steve, i the XJS isnt insured as i brought it as a project. I will give the wd40 idea a shot deffently worth a try. I was thinking about breaking the quater light window as a sencond hand one is £30 and then getting someone like "autoglass" to fit it?

If you can get a coat hanger inside the car you might be able to hook the inside door handle.

If you can get a "slim jim" down to the door latch you might be able to unlatch the door. Here is a drawing that shows the locking mechanisms and rods. If you can pull on rod #9 it should unlatch the door.

I've tried to see if i get get either door to open just a bit! One idea i was thinking was mabye get a live wire from the battery to the electric window relay. Does anyone knoe if this would work?
