Default '94 XJS Passenger Door Mirror

During a recent storm, a tree branch fell, dented the fender and dislodged the mirror from its post. (Photos attached)

Upon disassembly it appears a spring needs to be compressed and retaining clip reinstalled. There isn't much room to work with.

Has anyone been through this, and do you have a resolution?

Just buy one from ebay. so much easier

Did the screws shear off? You may have to deal with whatever the screws screw into...

Whilst the mirror is apart, remove the shaft from its sheath and ensure that it turns freely inside it before reassembling it.

See this thread here and my pics inc;. suggestion of using a valve spring compressor to get the star washer back on.
