I've been chasing an intermittent rattle in my exhaust for a while now and believe it to be coming from a loose piece of baffle inside a resonator. When it gets hot it gets more noticeable. My question is has anyone removed these two resonators and replaced them with straight pipe or another solution? Just curious what it might sound like or if there is any hit to performance or will it trigger some check engine light or perhaps cause something unexpected. Appreciate any insight!

 

My local jag mechanic did this on somebodies 3.6liter XJ-S, not mine.
I was round there and he started it up for me.
I thought it was way too loud.
