Default 96 XJS Pollen / Cabin Filter

I've searched but have not been able to find a definitive answer as to whether the 96 models have a cabin or pollen filter (could not find a part number or replacement part online so maybe it doe not exist). I see where the pre facelift have them under the wiper grill on the outside, but what about a 4.0 sold in the US?
Does anybody know and if so where is access located?

still a good idea, imo, just to keep the inside of the a/c unit clean, but I still wonder if they slow down the air flow through the vents.

See this 2013 thread for previous discussion on the topic of Pollen Filters:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...filters-95219/

Post #1 shows the filters and post #4 shows one of them fitted.

Jaguar offered a similar Pollen Filter option on the 1996 - 2005 XK8 which was also fitted under the intake grille. Many owners found it was more prone to collecting rain and wash water than dust!

Finally the 2006 - 2014 XK had a better design fitted as standard where the filter is in a waterproof housing.

Not 100% sure but I don't think any XJSs came off the assembly line with pollen filters. My impression is that the filters were sold as an 'accessory item' only.

Cheers

Hm. Assuming they're designed to be replaced, then the Owner's Handbook should mention them. I don't recall mine doing so, but I certainly could have overlooked it. I'll take a look and see what, if anything, it says, before I go ripping out bit of the car....

Thank you for the replies. I think I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie as I tend to agree I don't think they came with factory fitted pollen/cabin filters. I have read where some cars - not necessarily Jaguars - need to have the AC system air pressure/ volume control recalibrated when a filter is installed that was originally left off. My Ford Escape came from the factory without a cabin / pollen filter as well, but that one I'll install as it is a pretty simple procedure.
