Default !989 XJS ABS solenoid replacement?

Took apart by solenoid block to clean it (Jesus it was disgusting). I've got a dead solenoid, where can I get a replacement? Made by ATE so I've got to believe that the assembly is shared with some other cars.

Any help appreciated

Hi I've just been through the same problem myself and was unable to locate any Spare Parts for the Valve Block in the UK, as what I wanted was the Flat Rubber 'O' Rings.

In the very unlikely event that you find a repair Kit it would probably set you back £300-£500 (UK)

While a complete ABS Actuator, IF you could find one would be about £2,000!

The Valve Block from an XJ6 may be exactly the same in which case it may well use the same Valves.

But as I do not know for sure, its best to check with a Dealer.

Plan 'B' is to find a Scrap XJS and take a valve out of the valve block of that.

Here is a company that offers many type/sizes of O-rings;

O-Rings, Inc. Since 1958 - Buy Online

They even offer a DIY option. It might be worth checking out. If they dont already have the shape/size you need you might be able to make your own.

Hi Mark

Many Thanks, that was very good of you, to go to the trouble of finding that for me.

I did find one or two places here in the UK but they needed me to send them a sample of one of the 'O' rings.

As you know parts for the ABS are as rare as 'rocking horse teeth' and so I dare not let it out of my sight.

Instead I reused the old ones as they looked in pretty good condition but as for whether I've managed to fix it, there is only one way to find out!

Its all back in the Car now, so apart from putting the Reservoir on, which is a very easy job which I'm leaving to last minute, all that's really left to do is to jack her up and bleed the brakes.

Default Teves II ABS module accumulator alternatives

So I did some research and discovered the wide range of cars that use the same ABS components as the Jaguar. (List below

I found a ABS module accumulator from a 1990 Bonneville, aside from the hard lines mounted to it and the electrical connector it is indeed exactly the same as my 1989 XJS. I poached one solenoid from it but could see using it as is after swapping the hard lines, and electrical connector.

So, moral of story, one solenoid was not "clicking" and I replaced it with parts listed above. I also rewired the solenoids with new wires. Good luck to future searchers.
