Has anybody rebuilt their Aux. air valve. Difficult? Easier to buy a new one?

As a side note, I'm chasing down oil leaks and installing the Catcooler twin electrics fans. Pics to follow

I tried rebuilding mine...didn't work. Many have been sucessful, though, so don't let my failure stop you from trying. As of a few years ago a place in Austrailia (Prestige Spare, maybe? Can't remember) selling a rebuild kit.

Cheers

I have done many over the years, and only 1 was trashed.

NOT hard.

I have a paper with Kodaks in my laptop which I am happy to email to anyone who asks. My computer skills are rubbish at best, rather work on a Jag than play with this thing haha, so IF its not too complicated I will attach it here, IF it works good, if not back to my original suggestion of PM to those asking.

OK, just tried to "upload" the file via the attachment area I found, BUT it failed, must be too big, so PM seems the only way.

Grant send me your write up on your rebuild, I have one done now, shoved the bulb in a couple of MMs, tested in hot water it closes completely......Is this a bad thing as the idle screw should supply enough air for the vac hose to the Dizzy cap (Lucas). Thought the wine cork with 3mm hole inserted might be a simpler solution. Best to you both, Jon and Gillian. PS. found miss in 5a after changing all plugs, it was brown..all others tan, JW.

I did mine 10 years ago with Volvo Penta marine thermostat actuator, works like a charm.

Jon,

Email sent.

That dizzy vent hose has NO vac in it. It is simply a "draft" effect hose. The vac is on the inside of the AAV only, and the intake air to it via that elbow hose is purely a draft.

AHA, 5A, easy to replace, NOT. Good you found it.

The wine cork will work, ONLY if you consume the wine PRIOR to inserted it in the hole.

Enjoy
