Default AAV Rebuild solutions

Gentlemen, does the cork with a 3mm hole drilled and inserted in the tube leading to the throttle body; work as well as releasing the stuck plunger and driving the wax bulb into the AAV body 1-3mm to restore wax bulb function?..........which is the basic dependable solution to this jewel of an idle control device. Doug and Grant I am sure will have some ideas, but would like to resolve this quandry. Richard Dowling from OZ has an electrically controlled device, others have adapted parts from many different MfGs.......MBZ, Toyopa, Mazda..................Looking forward to your thoughts and solutions; best, JW.

HAHAHAHA.

Remove that thing, less weight, more speed.

I have removed dozens, used an electric solenoid form any car, BMW, AUDI, Jaguar even to give that "extra air" at cold start. My XJ-S has 2 of those aircleaner solenoids from the RH backing as part of the ??minute timer fiasco. Simply switched ON inside the car for cold start, and OFF when warmed up, or in my case, when I remember.

Idle is set by using the throttle disc stop screws and a carby balance meter, just like the old days.

One I have here at the moment has one of my rebuilt AAV units on it and is working just fine. That would have been 10 years ago I did that one. It has other issues, female things I reckon.
