Default AC Delco window motor on XJS?

Over the weekend I was researching replacement motors for my 92/93 XJS and found 2 postings on eBay for NOS AC Delco motors, part # 22063296. I get that there are Ford parts scattered on Jags after 1990, but AC DELCO??????? Can this be correct?

AC delco motors only until the mid 80's. Around 1988 the Window motors change to square Brose style which are very common and can be found in Delco Boxes. This is kind'a common for example,my Porsche 928 used a SAAB window motor which can be had for far less money and also uses a Brose style motor

The motors on the Series II and III sedans are made by Delco in England, as are the regulators.

Except for the ones fitted with Brose motors. :-) If there's a pattern as to which was used, I've not seen it. All mine have had Brose, FWIW

Cheers

I think 1974- 1984 were round bodied Delco, after that was Brose. I just pulled some out of a 1981 XJ6 last week and they are stamped Delco.
Prior to 1974, they were the square bodied Delcos as used in GM cars up to about 1976.

The square and round are wired differently, the square are case grounded, the round ( and Brose) are not - they change direction by swapping the positive and negative. The square have ground at the case, and change direction by applying power to different terminals.

The bolt pattern also changed between Delco and Brose, so they are not interchangable

Yes.

AC Delco wasn't associated with only GM cars. Heck, from time to time you can even find Fords with parts stamped AC Delco. . I'm certain that I've see various Euro cars with some AC Delco items....but the details escape me at the moment.

Cheers

Consider that when the 6.0 cars came out in 1994 they used the GM 4L80e transmission in them, and also when the XJR sedan came out in 1995 - the same GM transmission. Jaguar had been owned by Ford for 6 years at that time, but they still specified a GM transmission.

GM floated Delco as a separate company at some point in the mid 1980s (from memory) and both before and after this event they were trading as a parts supplier to all manufacturers, as well as the aftermarket for many makes.
