Default Alternative Cooling Radiator XJS V12

Has anyone fitted an alftermarket made in China radiator from Ebay. Just wondering if they're and a good fit. Also any problems regarding oil cooler etc.

I'll be interested to, the only info I have seen was
from suppliers who can't compete.

Hi Rocky15

Someone on here bought one and had problems and so I wouldn't risk it if I were you

Otherwise do what Robbo said and have yours re-cored, that's what I did with my Car and it cost me £250 probably £400+Now! but still half the price of a New one (as they were at the time)

But there are Two different Versions of the very same Rad! (You didn't think it would be that easy did you?) and if I remember correctly and I think I do, it caused such a difference of opinion, that you could have Two Teacups with a Storm in each of them!

While Version ONE has smaller holes with a bigger Surface Area (in the same size Frame)

Version TWO has bigger holes with more Air Flow (in the same size Frame)

So in a Nutshell do you want Bigger Holes with more Airflow?

Or do you want Smaller Holes but with a bigger Surface Area?

As I remember the Pros and Cons, seemed to go on forever but in the end we decided to go with what 'Greg' said, although my head was Spinning so much that by the time this decision was made, I was only 'One away' from having to go for Counseling!

Have a look at this Post on the Subject together with Photos of each type and then go on from there

'Greg' said go for Bigger Holes and Better Airflow, so that was what I did

Which Radiator would you Choose Bigger Holes or Bigger Surface Area?

I was looking into those radiators in ebay and had concerns on quality and fit as well. After a ton of research i am pretty set on the cooling wizard dual fan radiator. It costs a pretty penny but everyone who has it said it has done wonders keeping temp down and steady. As far as a good fit, reviews seem a bit scattered with some saying no issues and a few saying they had to rig it a bit, but in the end everyone was very happy with them. If you're interested I can keep you posted

Mine dropped in. The car has no problems with 85F weather and stop and go traffic. Nice and cool! The only thing I had trouble with was the bleed screw on the top of the radiator, it took me a while to figure out what the thread was as it isn't really documented anywhere. Its 1/8" BSPP, which is British Standard Pipe Parallel. I got a plug from McMaster Carr, its was less than $5. Most pipe threads are tapered so that they are self sealing. These are parallel (like most threads) so you'll want something with a flange on the end to make the seal, and a small copper washer. But yeah, no problems with the radiator or the fans.

I fitted a domestic radiator bleed screw and use any domestic radiator key to bleed it.

Thanks for your replies.

I went for a recore. In fact I got a refurb rad for £289. I sent my old one first and the day it was received my replacement was sent.

Not sure about the holes sizes but only to pleased to get sorted with a genuine replacement. Just waiting now to get it fitted.

I bought one on Ebay for my 94 XJ12 but it turned out to be incorrect and would be a perfect match for a 5.3 V12. It looked well made. I don't think Radiators are rocket science and I expect it will be fine.
